As well as reducing our use of plastic we need to dispose of any plastic waste responsibly.
Contact lenses are made of plastic and should never be washed down the sink or flushed down the toilet. Once in our sewage system they end up in the sludge that gets spread on to farmland and could ultimately end up in our food.
If you use contact lenses dispose of the lenses carefully in the bin after use or see if a local opticians is offering recycling.
TerraCycle now offer recycling for contact lense pots, pods and even the contact lenses themselves.
