Alternative for: facial moisturiser creams in plastic containers

Many plastic-free facial moisturisers are expensive or difficult to source, so switching to a natural oil may be a good option. A bottle of natural oil can last a long time as you only need a little each time.

Recommended non-greasy oils include:

  • Argan Oil (suitable for sensitive skin and good for dry skin)
  • Sweet Almond Oil (best for acne prone, dry and mature skin - not suitable for nut allergy suffers)
  • Grapeseed Oil (fragrance-free)

Note: Coconut oil is often promoted as a zero waste moisturiser, and while it's great for removing makeup and as a nappy cream, it's not as absorbent as the other oils.

Packaging: normally glass bottle with aluminium lid (or sometimes plastic depending on supplier)

End of Life: glass bottles are easily reused or recycled

"I have tried Argan Oil as a replacement for my facial moisturiser.  As it is a liquid rather than a cream you only need a little bit and it absorbs quickly. It can also be used on your hair."
