Alternative for: stick or roll-on deodorant in plastic applicator

100% organic natural plastic-free deodorant available in a glass jar, Fit Pit by The Green Woman is a surprisingly practical swap.

For those in the UK, this is the best plastic-free deodorant we've added to the library so far as it's easy to use, made in the UK and works!

Packaging: Glass jar with metal lid

End of Life: Zero waste - all parts can be reused and recycled. Glass jar and metal lid can be easily reused or recycled

 Recommended by Isabel M.

"After trying several plastic-free natural deodorants, this is my favourite so far. I was sceptical about how practical deodorant in a jar would be but it's actually much easier and quicker to apply than other natural deodorants I've tried."

Advantages...

  • Almost plastic-free
  • 100% natural organic ingredients, includes bicarbonate of soda, coconut oil, shea butter, aloe vera and essential oils
  • Smells nice and works
  • Easy to apply - no waste
  • No clothes staining
  • Free from parabens, BPAs, aluminium and palm oil
  • Available in a larger 100ml size, reducing the cost
  • Suitable for Vegans

Disadvantages...

  • If you're used to an antiperspirant rather than deodorant this switch might initially take a but more time to get used to
  • As with most natural deodorants, it’s not advisable to apply this deodorant straight after shaving
  • This deodorant contains bicarbonate of soda which some people are sensitive to; instead look at No Pong who do a bicarb-free version of their natural deodorant or Biork which is bicarb-free.
  • This product is not rated 100% plastic-free as the metal lids of glass jars often have either a plastic coating or a plastic coated disc. This stops the contents of the jar reacting with the metal of the lid. However, glass jars have a high reuse value and both the lids and the glass can be recycled at end of life.

Costs...

  • To compare costs, I’ve switched from a plastic Dove antiperspirant stick which cost £6.88 per 100ml verses £10 per 100ml for Fit Pit
  • 100ml jar is advertised to last 3 months, however I have found that it has lasted slightly longer than this

Where to Buy...

Available direct from The Green Woman

Their range also includes a deodorant for men, teens and those with sensitive skin
