Not all soap bar shampoos are recommended for hard water areas, unless you have a water softener. The soap reacts with calcium and magnesium minerals forming a waxy residue which sticks to your hair.

One suggestion, which we've not tested, is to get a filtered shower head which removes some of the minerals (these often use refillable balls for the filtering).
